Reclamation * India - PMT blames Tata Motors of supplying sub-standard buses

Defect spans chassis, engine, clutch and bus body; auto major says urgently addressing the problem

Pune,India -The Pune Newsline -Jan 25, 2007: -- The Pune Municipal Transport (PMT) has blamed Tata Motors of supplying 15 “sub-standard” semi low floor, 2004 model buses and said the transport body was facing a lot of problems - manufacturing and mechanical defects — due to it. General manager C K Anil said in a statement, because of these manufacturing and mechanical defects, the PMT had cancelled order for 50 buses... Tata Motors said it is looking into the issue and has offered factory-finished, fully-built buses of 2005 to the PMT. "... which are running successfully across the country in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad etc. Tata Motors has offered these buses to the PMT,” a Tata Motors spokesman told...
