Chattanooga,TN,USA -The Knoxville News Sentinel (subscription -Knoxville,TN)/Associated Press -24 Jan 2007: -- Chattanooga buses will provide free wireless Internet access by next fall, a move aimed partly at filling seats... The Wi-Fi system is part of CARTA's long-term plan to turn its buses into ''intelligent transportation system,'' or ITS, vehicles that rely on computers — not people — to gather and distribute information... In the next five to six years, CARTA officials envision counting bus passes by automatic sensors, alerting mechanics before a bus's engine or transmission breaks down and allowing riders to see if their bus is on time from screens at bus stops...
