Benet Academy Students Removed From Bus Before Blaze Breaks Out
Lisle,Ill.,USA -NBC5.com (Chicago,Ill) -Jan 22, 2007: -- A school bus driver evacuated students from her bus mere moments before it burst into flames in western suburb Lisle on Monday morning... A bus carrying 12 Benet Academy High School students was just about to pull into the school parking lot at 2200 Maple Ave. in Lisle, according to Benet principal Stephen Marth, when the driver noticed smoke coming from the engine... Instead of pulling fully into the lot to drop the students off at the regular spot, she pulled over immediately and evacuated the bus, Marth said... Once the students were off the bus, the fire spread to the main compartment and completely engulfed the bus in flames, according to Lisle Fire Battalion Chief Jim Bateman...
