Dallas,TX,USA -The Dallas Morning News (subscription), by Tony Hartzel -Jan 14, 2007: -- Dallas Area Rapid Transit hopes to eventually make a ride on some of its buses a little more rapid... Several months ago, as the transit agency adopted its long-range plan, debate about future rail lines across the northern suburbs and in southern Dallas grabbed most of the attention. But the plan also includes a $160 million plan to create 100 miles of "bus rapid transit" corridors throughout the area... Planning is still being done on the potential routes, costs and opening dates. Once a route is picked and money is available, a bus rapid transit line can be built in about two years. The key, Doug Allen, DART executive vice president said, will be getting the necessary equipment installed at intersections...
