Taipei,Taiwan -China Post -9 Dec 2006: -- The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) is taking measures for more effective administration of tour buses in response to public calls for better traffic safety... Officials said the ministry has decided not to immediately weed out aging tour and passenger buses due to the threats to the livelihoods of people in the industry and their families... The government lacks enough funds to purchase all the aging buses outright as requested by bus companies if it were to insist on eliminating buses that have been in use for certain years... The alternative is to leave the issue to the free market which is expected to elbow out older buses...
