VIOLENCE & VANDALISM

* France - Where bus drivers live in fear
BOBIGNY,France -ASSOCIATED PRESS/Detroit Free Press,by JENNY BARCHFIELD -Nov 12, 2006: -- The first thing driver Sacha Ristet does upon entering his bus is raise the partition that separates him from his passengers... Ristet works in Seine-Saint-Denis, a depressed region north of Paris that was the epicenter of three weeks of fiery riots that shook France last year... More recently, a spate of bus burnings by disaffected youths have plagued the area -- home to many Muslim immigrants from France's former colonies in Africa and their French-born children... The bus attacks coincide with the anniversary of the 2005 riots, in which youths burned thousands of cars, clashed with police and vandalized shops in poor areas. Sparked by the Oct. 27, 2005, accidental electrocutions of two teens who were hiding from police in a power substation, the riots were fueled by anger at France's failure to offer opportunities to minorities. Though many buses are now outfitted with cameras, microphones and emergency call buttons, the measures haven't eased Ristet's mind. "By the time the cops got here, everything would be over and the criminals gone," he said... Recent attacks have made bus drivers leery on routes)

Vandals caught should be put in prison for a month with bread and water given to them. No luxuries or fine the parents $500 each time their kid is caught.
The law is too lenient !! where is the discipline and morals of the world gone??
