* Australia - Govt buys buses to replace ageing fleet
Australia -ABC Regional Online - 3 Nov 2006: -- New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma says the Government's $40 million deal with a private bus operator is part of a plan to ensure the Hunter region gets reliable public transport... As part of the outer metropolitan transport strategy, the Government will buy more than 100 new buses to allow Hunter Valley Buses to upgrade its ageing fleet... The contract also includes refurbishing the company's 60 remaining buses... Mr Iemma says the operator is under an obligation to provide improved bus services, particularly to areas that are poorly served...
