Deregulation - UK - Councils to get power on buses
Sheffield,England,UK -Sheffield Today -3 Nov 2006: -- Tony Blair has given his personal backing to a South Yorkshire MP for moves to hand more power over buses to local authorities... The Prime Minister said it was "entirely right" that ministers look at more regulation amid growing criticism over the way buses are run outside London... He made the plea to Clive Betts, MP for Sheffield Attercliffe who raised deregulation at Prime Minister's Question Time... Transport Secretary Douglas Alexander pledged to end the free-for-all on buses and is expected to reveal proposals this year which are expected to include quality contracts...
