Disposing of a petition filed by one K U Paul, pleading to declare the strike illegal, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice P R Raman, said there cannot be any strike against a Supreme court judgment making speed governors mandatory... The bus operators should try to resolve the matter through dialogue and peaceful methods, the Bench held...

Thiruvananthapuram,Kerala,India -The Hindu -4 Nov 2006: -- Bus, tanker and lorry operators called off their five-day-old strike following talks with Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas here on Friday... While Kerala State Private Bus Operators Federation president A.K. Abdulla announced in the morning that the bus operators were withdrawing their strike, chairman of the bus and lorry owners' coordination committee P. Ramachandran and president of the Kerala State Private Bus Owners Federation Khalid Mundapilly said in the afternoon that they were only deferring the strike... * UK - Strike expected to disrupt buses
London,UK -BBC News -3 Nov 2006: -- Bus services in Orkney and the Highlands are likely to be widely disrupted next week after drivers voted to take industrial action over pay... The Transport and General Workers Union (T&G) rejected a pay offer following talks with bus group Rapsons on Friday... Drivers will stage a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, which is also likely to affect school buses...


* India -Bus services being fully restored - Suspension of permits to be withdrawn soon
Kochi,Kerala,India -The Hindu -4 Nov 2006: -- Many of the nearly 1,500 private buses that operate services within the city and its suburbs plied on Friday, after the federations of private bus owners withdrew their strike. Private lorries also resumed services... The Regional Transport Office had suspended permits of 75 private buses during the strike. These are likely to be restored within a few days to prevent difficulty to commuters. Many new bus operators had expressed willingness to ply on routes which did not have services during the strike...

* Canada - Buses Back On The Roads As Durham Strike Ends
Toronto,ONT,CAN -CityNews - Nov 3, 2006: -- After nearly a month of being forced to find other ways to get to work, Durham transit riders were smiling Friday... At about 6am buses began to roll again following a nearly four-week-long strike that left 30,000 people who rely on the service out of luck... The union voted 94 percent in favour of the new deal on Tuesday, which gives employees a three percent wage hike and protects them from the thorny issue of contracting out. There are also improvements to pensions, although only some workers will see their benefits increase...
