Safety - Canada - School buses have better air quality
Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada -The Daily News, by Lindsay Jones -Sept 6, 2006: -- Students who ride the bus in metro will breathe cleaner air this year... Halifax Regional School Board's 265 buses are equipped with engine pre-heaters to reduce idling outside the schools... Traditionally, when school buses arrive at the school to pick up students, they kept their engines running to warm them up and defrost the windows... Now, if the bus drops below a certain temperature, the preheater takes over, said John Turney, Stock Transportation general manager...
