DANGEROUS DRIVERS
* USA - Van hits students at bus stop, injuring 10WASHINGTON,DC,USA -CNN -September 1, 2006: -- Ten students were injured Friday when a white van lost control and ran into a school bus stop in Silver Spring, Maryland... The children are between the ages of 10 and 14. Nine of the children were taken to area hospitals for treatment of injuries ranging from fractures to lacerations. Although six children were seriously injured... Police are investigating the cause of the accident... * USA - School bus crashes into SUV, then fire hydrant, injuring 19 in southern California
RANCHO CUCAMONGA,CAL,USA -The Associated Press -Sept 1, 2006: -- A school bus collided with SUV and veered into a fire hydrant Friday, injuring 17 children and the two drivers... The bus was carrying 49 students to Day Creek Intermediate School in nearby Etiwanda about 7:44 a.m. when it hit an SUV that had turned left in front of it, CHP Officer Sean Cooper said... Seventeen students complained of injuries, and 11 were taken to hospitals for examination, Cooper said. One appeared to have moderate injuries, while the rest had minor injuries, mainly bumps and bruises, he said... No citations were issued and the crash was under investigation...
* USA - Child's Leg Amputated After Bus Stop Crash
Washington,DC,USA -9NEWS, by Bruce Leshan -Sept 02, 2006: -- Relatives say doctors had to amputate one child’s leg this afternoon, after a van crashed into a crowd of youngsters waiting in Takoma Park for their school bus... White Oak Middle School student Isaiah Reed tells 9NEWS NOW that he heard the van’s tires screeching and tried to scramble up a rock wall to get away... Backpacks and umbrellas littered Piney Branch Road, where perhaps as many as 25 children were waiting at the bus stop this morning... Eleven youngsters were hurt, 10 of them badly enough to be taken to hospitals. Rescue workers classified six of the children as suffering serious injuries... Police say Sebastian Vasquez, 29, of Hyattsville, told them he lost control of his van coming around a curve on the rain-slick road... He hit a fire hydrant, and then slid into the children waiting on the sidewalk...

The number 49 Lothian bus was travelling towards Edinburgh on Wednesday, when it crashed into the traffic island on Eskbank Road, Dalkeith, flattening the two permanent traffic bollards...
