* India - 27 feared dead as bus falls into Krishna river
BANGALORE,India -Times of India -29 Aug, 2006: -- At least 27 passengers were feared dead on Tuesday after a crowded bus plunged into the Krishna river swollen by monsoon rains in Karnataka, police said... The driver and five passengers were rescued, said Semanth Kumar Singh, police chief of the northern Bijapur district in Karnataka...
* India - 5 killed as bus falls into nullah
Hamirpur,India -The Tribune (Chandigarh,India), by Vibhor Mohan -August 3, 2006: -- Five passengers were killed and 40 others injured,10 seriously, when the private bus in which they were travelling, plunged into a 40-foot-deep nullah on the Hamirpur-Jahu road, in Bohni area, 6 km from here, around 9.30 a.m. today... Mr Daljit Thakur, Superintendent of Police, told that the bus belonged to Azad Bus Service and was on its way to Kangra from Sarkaghat when the accident took place... The driver, Mr Tirlok Singh, apparently failed to negotiate the sharp turn on the narrow road and the bus fell into the nullah. As many as 40 passengers sustained injuries...
* Australia - Metro investigating cause of bus fire
Australia -ABC Online -August 30, 2006: -- Metro Bus is investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed a bus travelling between Hobart and Gagebrook this afternoon... It is believed the fire started when the turbocharger on the bus overheated soon after it left the city... The 12 passengers were evacuated at Austins Ferry, moments before the bus burst into flames... Constable Brett Bowering says no one was injured, thanks to the quick action of the driver...
* Nigeria - Bus plunges into river
Lagos,Nigeria -News24 (South Africa) -31 Agosto 2006: -- About a dozen people were feared dead after a bus plunged into a river in the southeastern state of Anambra on Wednesday, said reports... State police chief John Haruna said the accident took place around midday and that four bodies had already been pulled out of the river... He could not disclose the cause of the accident...
