Sydney,New South Wales,Australia -Sydney Morning Herald, by Jordan Baker -July 20, 2006: -- State Transit has defended its off-peak service cuts amid public fury, saying there were better uses of taxpayers' money than ferrying air around the eastern suburbs... Angry bus users and the union attacked cuts to midday and evening runs across Sydney, saying services should not be dumped while demand for public transport was going up... But the chief of State Transit, John Lee, said resources would be directed to the places they were most needed rather than to runs that no longer had passengers to support them...
