State Owning - USA - City Inks Takeover Of Four Remaining Private Lines

Brand-New Buses Will Roll
NY,USA -Queens Chronicle, by Ron Brownlow -Dec 01, 2005: -- Commuters using the borough’s remaining private bus lines will soon be riding brand-new MTA buses... After two years of negotiations, the city and the Transit Alliance announced an agreement Wednesday for the MTA to absorb the Command, Green, Jamaica and Triboro bus companies... The city’s absorption of Queens’ remaining private bus lines should free more than 100 new buses the MTA has sitting in College Point and the Bronx... The move is expected to free 125 new buses that were purchased by the city a year ago but have been locked up in depots in College Point and the Bronx while the two sides negotiated, leaving more than 100,000 local commuters to ride buses that are on average twice as old as MTA buses...
