WESTOVER,Broome County, NY,USA -Press Connects -Dec 14, 2005: -- Broome County plans to replace nearly half of its diesel bus fleet with 20 hybrid buses being developed by BAE Systems Platform Solutions... The hybrid bus looks, sounds and operates much like a traditional bus, but the difference is in the propulsion system... The engine is smaller than those used in a conventional bus. It uses a "regenerative braking" system that allows the engine to capture heat generated from the brakes and turn it into electricity to power the bus... A lead-battery storage system is on the bus roof...
