Modern - India - Delhi finally gets high capacity buses

New Delhi, India -Indiacar.net -Dec 05, 2005: -- After manoeuvring through several roadblocks in the last three years, high capacity buses have finally found their place in Delhi roads. A long pending demand to ease out transportation woes in the city, the low-floor buses however, wouldn’t function on the dedicated corridors that the State Government planned to build, but on two busy routes within the existing alignment of city bus routes... The government has introduced five such buses that would ply on Route No. 620 and Route No. 42... These two routes do not require any major changes for these low-floor buses to run, owing to their width and absence of difficult turns. Moreover, the Transport Department has planned these routes as feeder services to the Delhi metro... The buses, bought from Tata Motors, would run under the State-run Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The DTC further plans to introduce 60 such buses in the future based on commuter feedback. The fare structure for the buses has been kept similar to the ones on the regular city buses...
