Security - Australia - Minister backs review of belts in buses
Canberra, Australia - The Age, by Phillip Hudson (subscription) ( Melbourne,Victoria,Aus) -Nov 13, 2005: -- STATE governments should consider installing seatbelts in school buses on "high-risk" routes, federal Roads Minister Jim Lloyd said yesterday... Mr Lloyd said he would back moves to adopt voluntary national guidelines for risk assessments of school bus routes, which would be discussed at a meeting of federal and state transport ministers in Hobart on Friday... Western Australia recently said it would make seatbelts mandatory in school buses after a serious crash between a school bus and a truck in Perth. The 25 children on board were wearing seatbelts, which has been credited with saving their lives...
