Sydney,NSW,Australia -The Sydney Morning Herald, by SEAN NICHOLLS -July 21, 2010: ... While the start date for all but one of the routes is yet to be revealed, the Transport Minister, John Robertson, announced that a service to western Sydney would begin within weeks... The first of the new routes, from Parramatta to the city via Victoria Road, would begin on August 8 and provide 40,000 ''passenger spaces'' a week... Plans for the high-capacity, highly visible network of red Metrobuses, designed to run every 10 minutes in peak periods, were unveiled in late 2008... Four routes are already running, a fifth route, between Drummoyne and Randwick via the city, would not start until October... A spokesman for Mr Robertson said the 130 new buses - a combination of fixed and articulated or ''bendy'' buses - would cost $94 million... The expansion would be paid for out of the $1.1 billion allocated to bus services in the NSW budget for 2010-11...
