NGV Buses * Thailand - Transport Ministry pushes forward leasing scheme

Bangkok,Thailand -Siam Daily News –April 11, 2010: -- The Ministry of Transport will push forward the 4,000 NGV bus leasing scheme after people have voiced more agreement to use new NGV busses, according to a recent survey... Deputy Transport Minister, Suchart Chokchaiwattanakorn, stated that the ministry would push forward the operation of the project at haste following the survey conducted by the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), which revealed a rising acceptance of NGV busses... According to the survey, 81.06% of the respondents agreed to switch to using new NGV busses. 23.83% of the respondents said they could afford to pay 30-40 THB per day for transportation while 71.11% of the respondents agreed if the government would set a flat fare for NGV Buses at 30 THB... The survey was conducted among 5,730 passengers using bus services of the BMTA on their opinions towards the use of NGV buses, how it can contribute to the alleviation of global warming, and the reduction of personal cars...
