BUSES SALES * Sweden - Volvo Gets SEK1.3B Deal For 1,500 Buses in China
Stockholm,Sweden -Dow Jones/The Wall Street Journal (NY,USA) -June 22, 2009: -- Volvo Monday said it has signed a framework agreement for 1,500 buses with bus operator Bashi Group in Shanghai, China, valued at approximately SEK1.3 billion... Main Facts:
- Buses will be delivered up to the opening of the World Expo in Shanghai in May.
- Deal with Bashi is through subsidiary Sunwin Bus, a 50-50 joint venture between Volvo Buses and Shanghai Automotive Industry Co.
- Of the framework agreement's 1,500 buses, about half will be Volvo buses, models Volvo B7RLE and Volvo B6R, and the remainder of the Sunwin brand.
- Framework agreement implies that the Bashi Group will make suborders each month.
- To date, the company has called for about 300 of the buses.

* Burlington getting stimulus money for new buses
Burlington,VT,USA -AP/VPR -June 22, 2009: -- The city of Burlington is getting new transit buses, thanks to the federal stimulus law... U.S. Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood says nearly $2 million will go to the Chittenden County Transportation Authority to buy five 30-foot buses that will replace older ones in the fleet... Since President Barack Obama signed the bailout bill, more than $1.4 billion have been made available to 28 states...
