Cumberland,MAR,USA -The Cumberland Times-News, by Kristin Harty -April 01, 2009: -- The pay isn’t bad and the job has its rewards, but it’s tough to find school bus drivers in Allegany County these days... Never in recent history has the district been so short-staffed, Jay Walbert, the school district’s transportation director, said... To assure that all its bases are covered, the district needs to hire another 25 school bus drivers by the time the next school year starts... Currently, 203 drivers are on the payroll — all part time, working two- to seven-hour days... Pay for school bus drivers ranges from about $10 to $15 an hour, Walbert said...
