Fixed-route transit system sets Jan. 26 start-up date
Marshall,MI,USA -The Marshall News Messenger, by STEVE BANDY -January 13, 2009: -- The new fixed-route bus transit system in Marshall is scheduled to begin on Jan. 26... The city has been working with the East Texas Council of Governments to provide the system... ETCOG obtained federal funds to purchase buses and pay for a majority of the cost of operating the system. The city will kick in $65,000 annually... Three routes — designated as the Red Route, Green Route and Blue Route — have been established throughout the city, all converging on the Greyhound Bus Station, which will serve as "headquarters" for the ETCOG operation, according to Johnson... Once ETCOG establishes where the buses are stopping to pick up and/or drop off riders more frequently, it will decide whether or not to establish a designated "bus stop" at that location...
