Papua New Guinea -NBC PG -Dec 31, 2008: -- A joint operation named Maski Over Charge is being carried out in the National Capital District to ensure public motor vehicles (PMV) and taxi operators do not over charge their passengers... The Lands Transport Division in collaboration with Police, the NCD Commission and the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission are putting up roadblocks in several corners of the city routes checking all PMV's and taxis... Mr. Larry said a lot of times PMV buses and taxies do not comply with traffic rules when on the road... He said this has been ongoing and that it's about time authorities stepped in... Passengers in particular have been complaining about PMV buses not completing designated routes and taxies overcharging passengers... PMV and taxi operators have countered that and said passengers were not paying the right amount of fees. These are complaints which would likely to be dealt with during the operation...
