TRANSPORT PLANS * Viet Nam - More buses for Ha Noi, remote areas next year
Ha Noi,Viet Nam -VNS -27 Dic 2008: -- The Ha Noi Department of Transport plans to open more bus routes next year to reduce the numbers of overloaded buses while meeting growing public transport demands... The department’s deputy director Nguyen Hoang Linh said the capital would launch new bus routes from the centre of Ha Noi to remote areas such as Da Chong in mountainous Ba Vi District in the first quarter of next year to meet transport demands, particularly to outlying areas that were recently merged into the capital’s administrative boundaries... The department has asked the urban transport management centre to finalise the planning of a bus station network and parking places as well as to promptly open new routes and invest in transport equipment... * HCMC to increase bus fares
Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam -Thanh Nien Daily -January 1, 2009: -- Bus fares in Ho Chi Minh City will rise by at least VND1,000 (5.8 US cents) from next March, the Department of Transport said Monday... The department plans to increase fares for less-than-31 kilometer of travel from VND3,000 to VND4,000 per ticket... Passengers who travel less than half way on over-31 kilometer routes will pay VND4,000 per person while fares for half way and over will be VND5,000 per ticket...
