STRIKE * South Africa - Durban buses grind to a halt
Durban,SA -The Independent Online (Cape Town,South Africa), by Matthew Savides & Gugu Mbonambi -Sept 29, 2008: -- Durban could be without a bus service for at least two months after Remant Alton dismissed about 800 bus drivers for embarking on illegal strike action two weeks ago... Unless mediation efforts scheduled for Monday result in the reinstatement of the drivers, the company will be forced to hire new drivers, a process which could take two or three months, disrupting the already strained bus service... Since the onset of the strike the company has dismissed a total of 930 employees...
