BUSES' PURCHASE PROSPECTS * India - GSRTC to run 1,000 more buses
Gandhinagar,Gujarat,India -The Times of India -11 Sep 2008: -- Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has decided to start air-conditioned buses and sleeper coaches for major pilgrim centres of the state, particularly Ambaji, Dwarka, Somnath and Pavagadh... A well-placed official in the state transport department told TOI that GSRTC's air conditioned and sleeper coaches will run on longer routes, particularly for religious tourists coming from outside the state... "We have decided to buy 1,000 buses this year by December this year for Rs 155-crore and replace old buses. Of these, 50 will be sleeper coaches and 20 air-conditioned buses. Also, 150 will be semi-luxury buses and another 150 mini-buses to be run only in tribal areas, where passenger traffic is low"... Of the 1,000 buses, 460 will run on compressed natural gas (CNG).
