A nightmare on the buses * UK - After council’s transport fiasco
Rhondda Cynon Taf County,South Wales,UK -The Wales On Line, by CARYS JONES -11 Sept 2008: -- The start of the new school year has resulted in chaos after Rhondda Cynon Taf Council failed to tell all parents and pupils about new bus routes, new contracts and new pick-up and drop-off times. Young children have been left on the side of busy main roads, with parents waiting for them at different bus stops... School children have been left guessing where to catch a bus on their first week of term after Rhondda Cynon Taf Council failed to organise transport plans and issue bus passes... The local authority went on to say it had recently completed an extensive process involving more than 600 transport tenders for 12,000 pupils... Council staff have been working until up to 11pm on weeknights and through the weekend in a bid to sort out the mess...
