HCM City,Viet Nam -Viet Nam News-1 Mar 2008: -- The HCM City Public Works and Transport Department is considering a request from bus operators that they be allowed to raise their fares, its deputy director Duong Hong Thanh has confirmed... But any increase would have to be carefully calculated to ensure passengers continued to use buses, he warned... The deputy director said the department’s bus subsidy would increase by VND134 billion ($8.4 million) this year... HCM City,Vietnam -Thanh Nien News -March 3, 2008: -- Twelve drivers of the Ho Chi Minh City Bus Cooperative Alliance have asked permission to temporarily stop bus operation after fuel prices hiked over thirty percent last week, the group’s director confirmed Sunday... According to the director, Phung Dang Hai, cooperative members said the increase of fuel prices, especially diesel fuel, has pushed up costs, causing vehicle employees much hardship...
