Ottawa to consider establishing transportation authority separate from city
Ottawa,ONT,CAN -CBC News -February 29, 2008: -- The Ontario government will provide $27 million to help Ottawa's public transit service pay for bus upgrades and other costs to boost its efficiency... The $27 million announced Friday, to be delivered by March 31, can be used for buying buses, upgrading old ones and buying new engines and GPS systems, Municipal Affairs Minister Jim Watson said... Ken Wetzel, acting director of the city branch responsible for OC Transpo, said the money is enough to buy 54 buses, but is unlikely to be spent entirely on new vehicles...
