Union Claims * Australia - 120 students on one bus
Sunshine Coast,Queensland,Australia -The Sunshine Coast Daily -6 February 2008: -- The Transport Workers Union has called for an investigation into a bus operator who allegedly allowed 120 children to pile into one Sunshine Coast school bus on Monday... TWU spokeswoman Rebecca Dumbleton said the union had received complaints from drivers of the private bus company, Buslink Queensland, about overcrowding on school buses... In one case, the union alleges 120 students from Maroochydore High School were allowed to board a single bus home on Monday... The maximum number of passengers legally allowed on the bus is 57 seated and 12 standing... Ms Dumbleton said the bus operator’s protocol was to allow overcrowding, as long as it was reported later...
