Longer bus rides * USA - Could save money on future vehicles
Indianapolis,IN,USA -The Indianapolis Star -February 14, 2008: -- Increasing students' commute time on Zionsville buses may reduce the number of new buses needed in the future, but it could cause scheduling problems, the district's transportation director told the school board this week... On Tuesday, the Zionsville Community School Board authorized spending more than $329,047 on four 78-passenger buses and one 14-passenger bus. Transportation Director Charlie Jones said the district is eliminating two bus routes next school year, which allows the district to buy one less 78-passenger bus and save more than $86,000... To decrease the number of buses needed in the future, board member Chip Cravens suggested increasing students' maximum commute time from 40 to 50 minutes...
