HYBRIDS * Canada - TTC rolls out these buses
New wheels are rolling out in Greater Toronto this year. TTC already has first wave of 500 new hybrid buses in service, while come April, GO riders will board double-deckers from ScotlandToronto,Ontario, Canada -The Toronto Star, by Tess Kalinowski -Feb 12, 2008: -- The TTC received the first shipment of its new generation of energy-smart buses in December. The buses are diesel-electric hybrids, using energy captured during braking to power part of their ride... Although BC Transit, Edmonton and Ottawa have committed for some units, the TTC believes it's the first transit company in Canada undertaking to create hybrids in its fleet...
