* Metro Transit Introduces New Line of Hybrid-Electric Buses
Minneapolis,MIN,USA -FOX 9 News -15 Nov 2007: -- Metro Transit has unveiled its new line of hybrid electric buses Thursday. Over a dozen of the new environmentally-friendly buses cruised down Nicollet Mall Thursday at noon in a parade that included a short presentation... The new buses are a preview of what Metro Transit hopes to accomplish by 2012. Metro Transit has pledged to have a cavalry of 150 hybrid buses by then. The buses cut down on noise, get 22 percent better gas mileage, and cut down on pollutants by over 90 percent, compared to traditional diesel buses... (Photo: Metro Transit Green Buses)

San Francisco,CAL,USA -The San Francisco Chronicle, by Rachel Gordon -November 15, 2007: -- City officials revealed today that they are looking at adding double-decker buses to San Francisco's public transit fleet, and will press one into service later this month for a short-term experiment... Double-decker buses, an iconic transportation option in London, "have a lot of advantages," Muni chief Nathaniel Ford told The Chronicle. Among them: They can hold a lot of people without taking up too much room on the congested streets and will be easier to maneuver through traffic and around corners than the long articulated buses...
