TECHNO-NEWS * Australia - Anti-terror cameras for buses
Surveillance cameras with facial recognition will be fitted into almost 2000 buses statewide as part of the State government's counter-terrorism strategy.
Sydney,New South Wales,Australia -The Daily Telegraph, by Linda Silmalis -May 06, 2007: -- The roll-out will also include the installation of screens which will show passengers real-time footage of what is being recorded... The government last week signed a $25 million contract for the roll-out of the high-resolution CCTV system which it hopes will deter crime while guarding against possible acts of terrorism... The cameras will replace analogue systems on some existing buses... The new technology allows for vastly superior footage to be captured to allow police to identify suspects instead ofthe traditional grey silhouette images...
