* USA - TriMet buses get filter retrofit
Portland,OR,USA -OregonLive.com/The Oregonian -April 12, 2007: -- TriMet began retrofitting 45 of its older buses Thursday with exhaust filters designed to reduce emissions by 90 percent... The particulate filters being installed on 1999 model buses will make them run six times cleaner than required by the federal regulations for that year, said agency spokesman Bruce Solberg. Exhaust soot will be reduced to levels comparable to new models, he said...
* USA - EPA-certified trucks, trailers available
USA -eTrucker, by Jill Dunn -13 April 2007: -- Truck and trailer makers are offering 2007 models certified by the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay program. The EPA says the trucks can save owners $11,000 annually while reducing greenhouse-gas emissions and air pollutants... Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt and Volvo are participating in the program. SmartWay-designated models include the International ProStar and Volvo VN and, in 2008, the Freightliner Century Class S/T and Columbia... SmartWay-approved equipment can reduce fuel consumption 10 to 20 percent by reducing wind resistance, the EPA says...
