* UK - Brits' bus-loving revealed
Weybridge,UK -Environmental Transport Association -24 Nov 2006: -- Britons make the equivalent of four trips to the sun on buses every year, new research has found... Travelling a breathtaking 375 million miles each year, Brits are increasingly leaving their cars at home in favour of the bus, the research from transport solutions provider Trueform found... Across the country people travel an average of 8.1 miles by bus every week, equating to 421 miles per person per year and use it 2.3 times per week on average... Perhaps unsurprisingly, Londoners were the first to shun their cars in favour of public buses, typically making 5.5 journeys per week and travelling 15.5 miles apiece... * Canada - Bike path, hybrid buses make city greener
Winnipeg,Can -The Winnipeg Sun, by TAMARA KING -Nov 24, 2006: -- The three levels of government are pouring millions into making Winnipeg a little greener with a lengthy bicycle path and the purchase of a pair of hybrid busses... A number of politicians gathered at The Forks Friday morning to announce the new bicycle route or as the bureaucrats call it, "an active transportation path."... Meanwhile, the city of Winnipeg plans to buy two 60-foot articulated hybrid diesel-electric busses — which may eventually be giving a lift to Manitoba Hydro workers...

* Canada - Hybrid transit buses roll out in the new year
Winnepeg,Manitoba,Canada -CJOB -Nov 24 2006: -- Two new extra-long transit buses will roll out as part of the WinSmart project geared to make transportation in Winnipeg more environmentally friendly... Winnipeg Transit official Tony Dreolini says they cost about a million dollars each, and are about one and a half times the size of regular transit buses...

* Canada - Feds hope to encourage drivers to switch to buses - N.S. gets millions in transit money
Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada -ChronicleHerald.ca, by DAVID JACKSON -25 Nov 2006: -- Ottawa is sending $37.5 million in transit money to Nova Scotia, with most of the new buses going to Halifax Regional Municipality... Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay, said the province will receive $25.8 million over three years from the federal Public Transit Capital Trust, announced in September... Mr. MacKay said the infrastructure money and a tax incentive for people who use public transit will result in less pollution and allow people to get around more efficiently...
