Survey * UK - Businesses blast congestion
Weybridge,UK -Environmental Transport Association -21 Nov 2006: -- Ninety per cent of businesses are now in favour of nationwide road tolls as a means of beating congestion, a survey by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has found... The state of the road network has led many British businesses 'to breaking point', the BCC said, with many now prepared to embrace new ways of paying for free-flowing roads. More than eight out of ten of the businesses surveyed said that transport infrastructure failures had led them to experience increased operating costs, while 78 per cent had lost man hours due to clogged roads... On average, businesses counted additional costs of £18,000 per year due to congestion, with volume of traffic the main reason behind the problem...
