Bolton,UK -The Bolton News /GMPTA: by Cllr Nick Peel, Bolton spokesman -22 Nov 2006: -- A Draft Road Transport Bill has been announced in the recent Queen's Speech, bringing the opportunity of greater public control over the bus services much closer... The GMPTA has led the campaign for the return of bus regulation and we welcome more control of our bus services... The details of the draft bill, it is understood, that it will include details of significantly more control of our bus services, that would go some way to rectify the decision that was made 20 years ago to deregulate bus services... With congestion on our roads rising, it is more important than ever that people are attracted to the bus network. To do this, the right regulatory framework needs to be in place, and the Government is absolutely right to tackle the increasing lack of public service that the current system provides...
