* USA - Double-deck bus embarks on Trial Run
San Diego,CAL,USA -The San Diego Union Tribune -Nov 18, 2006: -- The Metropolitan Transit System will operate a double-deck bus on Route 20 from Escondido to San Diego, and on certain other routes, beginning on Monday... The Enviro500, a 40-foot double deck bus on loan from Alexander Dennis Inc., is first in a new generation of low-floor, air-conditioned double deck buses promising high passenger capacity and a high level of comfort, according to transit officials. It will be in operation for 30 days... The new bus is among those being evaluated by the Metropolitan Transit System as it replaces existing buses...
* Canada - Advantage iy's increased capacity: 80 seats
Toronto,Ontario,Canada -680 News, by James Koole -Nov 19, 2006: -- GO Transit already has double decker trains, and by early 2008 GO Transit bus riders will be getting the double treatment as well... GO is buying a dozen double-decker highway coaches at a cost of almost $11 million, reports... The agency says a trial using a two-level coach along its Yonge Street route in the York region back in 2002 was a hit with commuters...
