* USA - Beach school buses cleaning up their act with biodiesel fuelNorfolk,VA,USA -The Virginian-Pilot, by LAUREN ROTH -Sept 9, 2006: -- More than 200 school buses used by Virginia Beach public schools - about one-third of the fleet - will be running cleaner starting Monday... They will be burning a blend of 20 percent biodiesel and 80 percent diesel fuel. Biodiesel is made of vegetable oil, recycled cooking oil or animal fats...

It's one of the few districts in the country to do that, thanks to a seemingly unrelated pollution problem at a nearby oil refinery... The connection may not be obvious between allegations of illegal pollution he Chevron refinery and school bus fumes miles away... Beginning next year, new school buses will be required to have the latest pollution controls, but old buses won't have to comply and can continue to pollute...
