Driver Sylvia Cooke handed in her resignation Thursday morning, and it was accepted by the New Albany Floyd County School Board at its regular meeting that night, according to Tony Bennett, assistant to the superintendent for operations...

None of the students on the Williamsburg school bus were hurt, Superintendent Randy Freeman said... The accident happened about 4 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of two gravel roads...

* Nigeria - Bus crash kills 20
Lagos,Nigeria -News24 (South Africa) -8 Sept 2006: -- Twenty people were killed after a bus collided with a truck on a road in central Nigeria, said reports on Friday, blaming the accident on speeding... The reports said the crash took place early on Thursday along the Lokoja-Abuja road. Among the 20 dead was a one-year-old boy... Road safety official Yusuf Salami was quoted as blaming the driver of the bus for the accident, accusing him of attempting to overtake another vehicle after he ran into the upcoming truck... Accidents were frequent on Nigeria's poorly-maintained inter-city roads because of disregard of traffic rules and speeding... Sixteen people died at the weekend after a collision of two buses in southwest Nigeria...
