* USA - Hybrids Will soon roll into Manatee County
Bradenton, Fl.,USA -Tampa Bay's 10 (St. Petersburg,FL) -26 July 2006: -- Manatee County could be the first school district in Florida to invest in diesel-electric buses. The district plans to buy two hybrid buses... The 71 seat buses would look like existing buses. The difference would be the cost... 225-thousand dollars --which is two to three times more than a conventional bus... But some say it's a small price to pay for the environmentally-friendly transportation. The schoool district and hopes to put them into use by mid 2007...

* USA - Board to spend $2.5 million on new buses
Columbiana,AL,USA -Shelby County Reporter, by BRANDON GRESHAM -July 26, 2006: -- The Shelby County Board of Education voted to purchase 42 news schools buses for the coming school year at a price tag over $2.5 million... The system will purchase three 19-passenger, four 53-passenger and thirty-five 72-passenger buses before the start of the school year to help combat rising enrollment rates in the county...





* USA - Prognosis - Panel approves Sims' bus expansion plan
Seattle,Wash.,USA -Seattle Post Intelligencer -July 27, 2006: -- King County Executive Ron Sims' 10-year, $598-million Metro bus expansion plan got a thumbs-up Wednesday from the County Council's Transportation Committee, which recommended placing the measure on the November ballot... If placed on the ballot and approved by voters, the measure would increase the sales tax by a tenth of 1 percent to pay for increased bus frequency, including what's described as "bus rapid transit" service in five corridors and more frequent service on 35 other routes across the county...
