Controls - USA - School buses get failing grades
Victorville,CA,USABy -Victorville Daily Press, by GRETCHEN LOSI -June 16, 2006: -- The California Highway Patrol has slapped the Victor Valley Union High School District with failing grades to some school buses... With only five mechanics to service more than 50 buses that are at least 20 years old, district officials said they weren't surprised... The annual inspection is random. The list of mechanical and safety problems ranged from inadequate brake line pressure and frayed hoses to peeling paint... The failure report was a wake-up call to administrators, who have now formed an action plan. The old buses are to be replaced, although the cost will be extreme, making the process slow. Because of new seat belt laws, three buses at $100,000 apiece will be needed for every two that are replaced...
