Adelaide,South Australia -Australia Advertiser Adelaide, by Renato Castello -18 June 2006: -- Adelaide's bus system is "ready to burst" with surging passenger numbers and traffic congestion, as pressure grows for a long-term plan to deal with the problem.The Transport Workers Union, bus operators and transport experts want the State Government to increase public transport investment, because traffic pressure on key routes has seen travel times increase by up to 20 per cent in five years... University of SA Transport Policy and Planning Professor Derek Scrafton said the Government had no long-term public transport plan... "In peak-hour, buses are too often trapped in traffic and that is never going to encourage people to ride public transport," he said...
