Riders increase - USA - Faster in SLO than in most American cities

SLO bus ridership growing

San Luis Obispo,CA,USA -San Luis Obispo Tribune, by Leslie Griffy -May. 30, 2006: -- San Luis Obispo Transit saw more new riders get on the bus than most other cities — big and small — in the country, according to an American Public Transportation Association survey... The survey ranked SLO Transit the fourth-fastest growing public transportation system in surveyed. The service has seen a ridership jump of about 22 percent from 2004 to 2005... Atlanta, Canton, Ohio, and Tulsa, Okla., beat out the local the routes for the top growth honors, but many of those services had added new lines and increased ridership that way... San Luis Obispo transit growth during the survey period, from Nov. 2004 to Nov. 2005, didn’t stem so much from new lines as a changed system... Changes included making schedules easier to remember — by having buses arrive every half-an-hour, for example — posting schedules at bus stops and tweaking the routes...
