Figures - Sri Lanka - Central Transport Board gets 1650 more buses
Colombo,Sri Lanka -Colombo Page -May 5, 2006: -- Sri Lanka will receive another 1650 buses for the Central Transport Board (CTB) within the coming six months under the Indian credit line, the Ministry of Transport says... The Ministry intends to introduce CTB-private joint timetables when the strength reaches 7300 buses, an adequate number necessary for a scheduled operation... Sri Lanka's passenger transport service is now dominated by the private sector. The fleet of private buses amount to 18,000. But the standards are very poor, mainly as the majority of investments are small scale...
