Eugene,OR,USA - KVAL, by Meghan Kalkstein -May 4, 2006: -- Students in the Eugene 4-J School District can breath a little easier, thanks to a $650,000 federal grant given to Oregon. Transporting nearly 5,000 students a day, the school buses log over one million miles a year, and burn over 150,000 gallons of fuel... But now the district is cleaning up its act. They're using a subsidy to switch from bio-diesel to ultra-low sulfur diesel, and replacing old mufflers with new emission control units...
