San Francisco,CA, USA -San Francisco Chronicle, by Chip Johnson -March 3, 2006: -- The crime wave in Oakland that has sent City Hall and the Police Department into crisis mode is mirrored by AC Transit, which has seen a dramatic increase in assaults and robberies on its lines since the start of the year... Five crimes were committed aboard buses in Oakland last Friday night alone... But a safe bus trip for every passenger is a worthy goal, even if it means finding the money to pay for the additional deputies or taking a page from the San Francisco Municipal Railway and installing real-time digital cameras throughout its system to keep an eye on things...
