Mo Phillips, who drives the number 31 service for Lothian Buses, was praised as an "ambassador" for Edinburgh at a national awards ceremony... The 41-year-old from Prestonfield, one of only 55 female drivers with Lothian Buses, specialises in talking to her passengers - in contrast with stereotypical grumpy bus drivers...

The man soon finds bright yellow guiding and warning tiles beneath his feet that guide him to the bus shelter which also has a ramp for easy movement... Then as a bus approaches the stand, speaker on board announcing, "This bus is plying on route 620 and going to Shivaji Stadium... ." With the height of the stand being 38 cm, the man is able to simply walk into the bus and take a reserved seat...

* Anger grows over plan to halt buses
Melbourne,Victoria,Australia -The Age, by Dan Silkstone -Jan 10, 2006: Saturday night and Sunday bus services in Dandenong and Springvale will halt next month because the State Government is refusing to fund them... The Government says its transport priorities are improving bus services in outer Melbourne and lifting public transport capacity in the fast-growing Dandenong corridor. But two bus routes —which meet both of those goals and have carried 900,000 people in the past year— have been axed because the Government does not want to pay for them... In last May's state budget the Government committed $45 million over four years for outer suburban bus services, including $1 million for the Dandenong area. Experts say that is only a fraction of what is needed...
