PURCHASES - AUSTRALIA - Massive order for Sydney buses
505 new air-conditioned vehicles are to be delivered over the next five years.
Australasian Bus and Coach - Australia - Jun 27 2005: -- Sydney Buses, with a fleet of 1700 buses, carries more than 600,000 passengers a day on its 300-route network, but almost three in five were more than 12 years old and the average age of a bus was 12.9 years... So, the new buses will be delivered to the STA over the next five years. Value of for the new generation buses will be $200 million with the first $60 million already allocated in this year's budget... the buses would include security features to combat hooliganism and graffiti vandalism, too will be required to provide the latest security measures for the protection of the driver... The bus acquisition program would also feature anti-vandal designs... The expected delivery dates of the new buses are as follows:
2006 – 45 buses
2007 – 100 buses
2008 – 90 buses
2009 – 90 buses
2010 – 90 buses
2011 – 20 buses
